TRIBUTE TO OUR DEAR AUNTIE ANNA

It is painful writing a tribute to you three years after we lost our mother. It feels as if we have lost another connection to our mother.
We got to know Auntie Anna as kids through or late mother Prof. Gertrude Aboagye. They were colleagues being the only two female lecturers at the Animal Science Department. Naturally they became friends and the friendship blossomed to the extent that they became like sisters. This relationship trickled down to us and even to our extended family and Auntie Anna became like a second mother to us and her family became our family.
Our memories go back to our childhood when she and uncle Edwin would baby sit us. We remember her as being a fun person, always teasing us and giving us nicknames.
At a point in our childhood, we stayed at the Ayido flats with the Barnes Family. Auntie Anna would constantly come upstairs to our flat and ensure that we finished our meals running commentary like it’s a football match and we scored a goal when we finally put the food in our mouths. She always got us to finish our meals.
We remember the times she took us to the hospital even before our mother got to know we were sick. Her home was our home.
We remember times when Mummy was out of the country. Auntie Anna would cook and pick Victoria up to visit Nelly in boarding school every Sunday till Mummy returned. Her way of supervising Victoria’s studies was to pick her up daily to have “prep” in her house. She would then drop her off at home after 9pm. This continued till Mummy returned.
Auntie Anna we fondly remember how you related to usand made us feel loved.
After Mummy passed, you would come home and bring us sausages, bacon and pork but those times were hard on you and we understood. These visits always ended up in tears. You would tear up wherever you met us. We understood it as your way of showing how much you loved and missed Mummy.
Thank you for the good times we spent together. You were always there for us and we are grateful.
It is hard to accept that you are gone because it was so sudden.
Sleep well in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We love you and will cherish all the fond memories for a very long time.
